LONELY DOT
The crowded trade dies. So does the crowded chair.
Keynes called the market a beauty contest: you win by guessing what everyone else will pick. The floor runs it the other way round. 1,024 chairs, drawn as Fade dots. You win by sitting where nobody else sat.
- 1Take one chair for every Fade you hold. If a Fade is sold or transferred, its chair is erased. The new holder does not inherit it and has to pick a chair of their own.
- 2If someone else took the same chair, you both stand up. Crowded chairs fade.
- 3At the closing bell, Seat 0, the Chairman's, is set down on the floor. The 10 lonely chairs closest to the Chairman win a seat at The Mutual Fun.
How the seats are decided
- 1Crowded chairs are outAny chair picked by two or more Fades is out, for everyone on it. Only chairs picked exactly once stay in the game.
- 2Seat 0 landsAfter the closing bell, the hash of a later ApeChain block picks one of the 1,024 chairs for the Chairman. Nobody can know it in advance.
- 3Closest winsLonely chairs are ranked by straight-line distance to Seat 0. One step across counts 1, one step diagonal about 1.41. Ties go to the chair sealed first.
- 4One seat per walletThe 10 closest wallets win. If a wallet already has a seat, its other chairs are skipped and the next wallet moves up.
One chair per Fade, and only for the wallet that sat. If a Fade is sold or transferred, its chair is void: the new holder does not inherit the spot and can pick a new chair while the floor is open. A Fade that has left the wallet that placed its chair, and was never seated again, has no chair at the reveal and crowds nobody.
Nothing can be changed afterwards. Chairs are sealed on-chain before the bell, so nobody sees where anyone sat. At the reveal the contract checks every chair against its seal, draws Seat 0 and names the winners itself, so anyone can recheck the result on ApeChain.
It is not a case of choosing those which, to the best of one's judgment, are really the prettiest, nor even those which average opinion genuinely thinks the prettiest. We have reached the third degree where we devote our intelligences to anticipating what average opinion expects the average opinion to be.John Maynard Keynes · The General Theory, 1936Lonely Dot is that contest turned inside out: read the room, then sit where it isn't.

Contract 0x4EA9…bD1B on ApeChain. Each wallet seals its chairs in one transaction that holds only sealed hashes and the chairs encrypted to the desk. After the closing bell the desk reveals every chair, and the contract checks each seal, places Seat 0 from a block hash and names the winners.
